Another Pet Food Recall

As a continuing Public Pet Service, if any of you are eating Pedigree Canned Dog Food, please go to http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-recall/pedigree-dog-food-recall/.   It seems that some small pieces of blue plastic got into some of the dog food cans and could cause choking.  I only eat dry dog food so I was not affected.

On a lighter note, I was watching the sprinkler system this evening.  You know, those funny black things that pop up out of the yard and throw water everywhere.  Well, I thought I would investigate this issue further.  Do you know that it turned on me.  I mean the silly thing turned around and started shooting water directly on me.  Hey, how am I supposed to know about rotor sprinkler heads, I’m just a puppy.  Actually, it was kind of neat after I got over the shock of it throwing water all over me.

By the way, today I weighed in at 84 pounds for those who are keeping score (and I am sure most of your are).

Hot in Austin

Man is it hot.  I thought Mesa, AZ was hot (and it was) but I’m not sure this is an improvement.  Here it is, still June and the temperature is well over 100 degrees and the humidity is high, at least near Lake Travis.

I am spending most of my time inside.  I may be a puppy but I am NOT stupid.  Michael has been cleaning out the pond and trimming the tall grass on the slope behind the house.  I have gone outside enough to know that sleeping in the air conditioning is far superior to working outside in this weather.

The power was off for over 2 hours yesterday and it started getting warm in the house.  Michael started the generator on the motorcoach and cooled it down in case the house got too hot for me (and our next door neighbor Virginia).  Wasn’t that nice of him!!

Since I know you are interested, I now weigh 81 pounds and am 27.5″ at the shoulder at 5 months.  Michael also added a couple of new photos to the Photo gallery.

Trip to the Vet and the Barber

Today was interesting. Michael took me to the vet and I got my Rabies shot (told you earlier that shots are all vets seem to think about). I also got to meet Dr. Corcoran . She has two Irish Wolfhounds so she is a good person. Buttercup Veterinary Hospital confirmed that I weigh 79.5 pounds at 21 weeks.

Then we stopped by to see Kathy, Michael’s barber. She is so nice. Not only did she take time to play with me, she gave me a Bully Stick. That was a great way to make up for having to get another shot.

Cutting Teeth is No Fun

It is hard being a puppy.  First people get unhappy with you when you are getting in your baby teeth and you want to chew on everything.  Then the baby teeth start falling out and you start getting in big teeth.  That makes you REALLY want to chew on things.  I wish people would understand that chewing makes my gums feel better.

Losing Teeth

I am still losing baby teeth. Michael found another baby canine tooth on the kitchen floor today. It has been very warm and humid so I have been spending most of my time in the kitchen on the tile floor.

Michael says that I am getting a little better about chewing everything in sight but still have a long way to go. He got a BIG scale and put it in the garage just to weigh me. Today I weighed 78 pounds and am still 27-1/2″ at the shoulders

Settling In

Now that I am back at my big house (the one that doesn’t move), I have lots of space and a yard.  Michael and Georgia have been moving things out of the Newell into the house again.  What a pain.  They waste time with stuff like that when they could be playing with me.

Back Home

After spending a windy night in Fort Stockton on Tuesday, we drove to Austin and returned to the big house that I had almost forgotten.  I am back to having my fenced in yard to play in.  Michael and Georgia got me a BIG kennel for the master bedroom so I can sleep with them.  It is many times the size of the little kennel they had in the motorhome that I outgrew.

I spend a lot of time in the kitchen since Georgia is in there.  The floors are cool and that is important since it is hot outside.

They got me my very on scale.  It is big and I can stand on it without Michael having to pick me up.  That is a good thing since I now weigh 74 pounds.

New Mexico to Texas

Yesterday we visited Neal and Barbara at their home in Alamogordo. They have a real nice home and a wonderful Newell. It has 4 big slides so it is really big with the slides out. Gets a little snug with the slides in but it sure is pretty.

This morning we headed to Texas. Drove through Fort Bliss and headed east.

Back on the Road

Well, the rumors were true.  On Sunday the 10th we left Mesa, AZ and drove to Deming, NM.  Michael and Georgia are using an X-Pen in the coach when we travel instead of the kennel.  That’s because I have virtually outgrown my kennel.  It is for little dogs.  They claim it is for dogs up to 28 inches tall.  I will tell you that a 28″ tall dog will be VERY uncomfortable in that kennel.  I am now 27″ tall and it is TIGHT so the X-Pen is a good idea.  Unfortunately, the execution was very poor.  They put the X-Pen in the bedroom/bath area.  That is too far away from them for me to be a happy puppy.

Anyway, I am adapting to travel again.  We are supposed to be in Alamogordo today to visit some more of Michael and Georgia’s friends.  They seem to have friends everywhere.

My House on Wheels Left Me

I thought tragedy had struck this morning.  I got up, had breakfast and went for a morning walk with Georgia.  All normal events.  We came back and SHA-BAM, the motorcoach was gone and so was Michael.  I thought I was going to have a stroke right on the spot.  Michael was gone and he took the motorcoach.  What is going to happen to me!!  Georgia reassured me that Michael had taken the coach in to get work done on it but I wasn’t so sure.  We went to Tom and Darlene’s house and at least I knew there was a backup plan in place in case the motorcoach didn’t come back.

Michael did bring the motorcoach back and all is well now so I can rest easily tonight.  BUT!!!  Now I am hearing rumors that our time in Mesa is coming to a close and we may be leaving on Sunday.  Just when I was calming down, now they throw another curve ball at me.

Still in Mesa, Still Growing

We are trying to get some last minute tasks completed in anticipation of leaving Mesa in a few days.  It has been a little cooler and Michael says that my chewing has calmed down a little bit.  I guess that’s what happens when you get old.

I am still gaining weight.  According to the scales in the Newell, I now weigh 71 pounds and stand 26-1/4″ at the shoulder.

Still Kicking

Bet you thought I had fallen off the face of the earth, since it has been so long since I posted.

Actually, everyone has been very busy. Michael and Tom continue to work on Tom’s coach, Georgia and Darlene are spending a lot of time together and I am NOT enjoying the 108-113 degree weather. I don’t get to go outside much due to the heat. I do wear a fur coat all the time you know!!  I try to play with Missy (Tom and Darlene’s dog) but she just barks at me.

I am now 26″ at the shoulder and weigh 64 pounds. I have almost outgrown my kennel so Michael set up an X-Pen in the motorcoach that is 2′ x 6′ for me to sleep in. I like it better than the little kennel.

Getting Hot

Michael and Georgia warned me that Arizona was hot. The first part of the week wasn’t too bad but now it is going to get REALLY hot for a wolfhound. It is supposed to be about 99 today, 107 tomorrow and 110 on Friday. That doesn’t sound good at all.

Michael says I have been behaving much better the past few days. I have gained another couple of pounds. Sleeping is my favorite pastime when it is hot. Of course I still have to have something to chew on when I wake up.

Better Today

Feeling better today. Spent most of the day laying around outside at Tom and Darlene’s house. It was a much cooler than average day here in Mesa.

Happy Memorial Day to all of you veterans!!

Adventures in Mesa

I have spent the past  several days touring Val Vista Village RV Resort in Mesa, AZ.  I go on long walks and sometimes, I get to go to the dog run.  Well, on Saturday, I got to go visit Tom, Darlene.and their dog Missy.  Missy wasn’t amused about having me in her house but we were getting along pretty well.  Then I discovered she had toys.  I found one I really liked and ate it.  I thought nothing about it but Georgia was not very happy.  As a matter of fact she was so unhapy that she took me to a Vet Emergency Clinic.  They gave me a shot that made me sick.  It made me so sick that I gave back the little toy I had eaten.  They keep telling me that the toy might have hurt me but I think they wanted it back because they were selfish and didn’t want me to have it.

On the Road Again

It is with some misgivings that we said goodbye to Newport Beach this morning and headed for Mesa, AZ.  Since I have never been to Mesa you can understand my concern.  I had just about figured out Newport Beach and met lots of nice people, including Patty and Shiela and Steven and Jane when I found out we were leaving.  After we get to Mesa, I will give you astatus report.  In the meantime, I am going to eat me lunch and go back to sleep while Michael drives.

Still Growing

It has been several days since Michael weighed and measured me so he felt compelled to update you on these important facts.  As of May 22, 2012, I am 116 days old (that’s 16.6 weeks for those whose last mathematics class was a LONG time ago).  I now weigh 60.5 pounds and stand 25 inches tall at the shoulder.  My tail still drags the ground which means that my legs aren’t long enough.  I can usually get up on the coach but sometimes my hind legs just aren’t quite long enough to facilitate this important task.  Never fear!!  I continue to grow daily.

Personally, I don’t know why people make such a big deal over my height and weight.  I am the size I am (until tomorrow when I will no doubt be larger than the size I am now).

Jeff and Diane

Yesterday I got to meet Jeff, Diane and Katie.  They are very nice and I appreciate them coming by to see me.

There are rumors that we are going to be leaving Newport Beach this week.  I have mixed emotions about that.  The weather is very nice here and there are lots of friendly people but some of the dogs scare me by barking and running at me.  In some respects I will be glad when I am bigger.

Teeth

I was chewing on a rawhide bone this morning and I lost one of my canine baby teeth.  What the heck is going on here.  First my mouth hurts because I am getting in baby teeth now they are already falling out.  What’s up with that???
