Another trip to the vet and another shot.  I like Dr. Cohen a lot.  Only problem is he keeps giving me shots.  I had the third set of puppy shots today.  I thought that should be enough for a lifetime but now I hear that after I turn 4 months old, I have to have a rabies shot.  This is getting ridiculous.

I also got some antibiotics for an anal gland infection.  Boo!

I am now 24″ tall at the shoulder and weigh 56.2 on the vet’s scale (which is less than the scale in the motorcoach).  Regardless, I am worn out from all the excitement so I am going to take a nap.

Fashion Island

New Experience Alert:  Today I went for a ride in the PT Cruiser.  THAT is not unusual as I do that every day or two.  What was different was that we stopped at a nearby place called Fashion Island, here in Newport Beach.  This is a BIG place they call a shopping center.  Bob the people trainer meet us at Fashion Island for a guided tour and was it busy.  I mean people everywhere.  They have fountains that make big noises when the water shoots up in the air and even dogs walking their people around.  It wore me out.  I even got into the car without help after Bob loaned Michael a rug to put on the slippery rubber mat that lines the rear of the PT Cruiser.  I hated for Michael to realize that I could get into the car since he normally picks me up and puts me in.

Anyway, all in all it was a pleasurable day.  I came home and slept until past my regular dinner time.  I ate a big dinner and think I will turn in for the night.  Be careful, those shopping centers will wear you out!!

Height: 23.5″ at the shoulder

Weight: 55 pounds

Age: 15.3 weeks (107 days) or 3.5 months

Michael says I am not chewing things up quite as badly as I did a week ago but you and I know this is just a lull between great big chewing spurts.

Pet Food Recall

Diamond Pet Food has expanded its recall due to potential contamination with Salmonella bacteria to include 14 different brands they produce.  Please visit http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-recall/diamond-dog-food-recall-summary/  for additional information.  There are a number of dog foods that have been recalled recently and you wouldn’t want your darling dog to be eating bad food!!  Dogfoodadvisor is a good site because they allow you to sign up to get an email when a dog food is recalled so you will be aware of the issue or you can just bookmark their summary page and check it regularly yourself.  In the case of the Diamond recall, the recalled products include:

Still Kicking

Don’t want anyone to think I have fallen off the end of the earth.  Things have been quiet around here.  Michael has been going over to the store room then coming home to play with me.    We have been going for our long walk every evening.  I get to meet more people and get some exercise.

Steven came over yesterday to play with me.  Unfortunately, he spent most of his time with Michael instead of me.  Boo!!

My Trifexis came in the mail.  I am supposed to take it once a month to prevent heartworm, fleas and intestinal worms.

Not My Best Day

Yesterday started out to be a good day.  At least it was until about 6 pm.  I was out for a walk with Michael and Georgia as usual.  We saw Brodie, whom I had met before, only this time he wanted to play.  I didn’t know what to think of this BIG dog running so I got scared and pulled the leash out of Michael’s hand.  I stopped while Brodie was running toward me and bamm!! He couldn’t stop and ran over me.  I went tumbling.  I don’t mind admitting I was scared.  I guess the give away was that I hopped up and ran back to the motorcoach as fast as my little feet would carry me (which is pretty fast according to Michael) barking all the way.  I ran into the comfort of my fenced in yard and was safe.  Not only did it scare me, it scared the heck out of two women that were coming around the corner with their little-bitty dogs when I came charging down the street barking.  I thought they were going to have a heart attack.  I guess they thought I was charging at them.  I just barely noticed them as I ran past them barking.

Thank goodness for the comfort and safety of my yard.  I wasn’t hurt but I sure was scared.  Brodie’s mom and dad came down to love on me and make sure I was OK.  I know Brodie was only trying to play but man is he BIG.

Speaking of big, I have grown another 1/2 inch.  I am now 22.5″ at the shoulder and the last time Michael weighed me I was 49 pounds.

I’m Growing

I don’t know if the scale Michael and Georgia have is as accurate as the vet’s scale but when Michael weighs himself then weighs again holding me, it looks like I have gained another 4 pounds. Their scale shows that I weight 49 pounds now.

Robert came by to see me today.  He brought his pretty white Labradoodle.  I wanted to play but the little Labradoodle is very shy.

Another Outing

After Bob left yesterday, Georgia went to in for physical therapy on her arm and shoulder that has been bothering her.  Michael and I sat in the grass until it started getting hotter then we sat in the car with the air conditioner on listening to a radio station called Jack.  Then Michael left AGAIN.  He keeps going over to that stupid store room to clean things out instead of playing with me.  Fortunately, Georgia stayed to play with me so the world is good.

I have discovered that digging holes in the sand is fun!!  Michael and Georgia are still no amused but what the heck, I’m just a puppy you know ;-).

Bob Came Back To Me

Yeah!!  Bob, the People Trainer, came back to see me this morning.  He brings lots of treats so I like for him to come over.  He is trying to teach Michael and Georgia to Sit, Stay, Down, and other things.  I don’t know what some of those mean but I am trying to learn so I can help Michael and Georgia with them later when they forget.

They did find that I have grown another inch.  I am now 21″ at the shoulders.  I am still holding at about 45 pounds waiting for my next growth spurt.

Jeff

Today I met Dr. Jeffrey Cohen of Newport Beach Veterinary Hospital.  He was Patrick’s vet for many years.  Everyone was talking about Patrick but I finally won them over with my boyish good looks and my puppy eyes.  Then they gave me a shot.  What is it with these veterinarians?  They always want to stab you!  Anyway, I think Jeff and I will be good friends.  Michael put a video of Jeff with me on the Video Page.

After the visit to the vet, I got to go The Three Dog Bakery in Corona Del Mar/Newport Beach.  Now that it my kind of place!  They have homemade dog cookies and cakes and they have toys and everything.  If you want to spoil your puppy, The Three Dog Bakery is the place to go in Southern California.

I think I will take a nap.  Going places will wear out an Irish Woofie.

Everyone’s Home

Today was a better day.  Everyone stayed home to play with me.  We also took a road trip to Petsmart.  I didn’t get to go in but they bought me some more toys to play with.  Then they decided they needed a couple more X-Pens.  They didn’t like me digging around the sprinkler system so they fenced it off.  I don’t think that is fair.

Michael Left

What is the world coming to.  Just as you think you have every thing figured out, Michael leaves before 8 AM and doesn’t come home at my lunch time.  He doesn’t even come home at time for my dinner.  Fortunately, Georgia was here to play with me and feed me.  I was beginning to think he wasn’t coming back when I heard the car coming in at almost 8PM.  What the heck!!  Turns out he had to empty out a storage room that his parents had. One down, one to go.

I was a very good boy until 5 PM.  That is about the time that my evil twin takes over and I start seeing how much trouble I can get into.  Georgia was pretty busy keeping me from chewing up everything in the motorcoach.

All in all, it was a pretty good day, but I don’t like it when either of my adopted parents leave.  I like the entire family where I can keep an eye on them.  They might get into trouble without my guidance and supervision.

Bath

This morning I had a bath.  Don’t know if I liked it or not.  It started out fun to be in the shower and the water wasn’t too bad.  Then came the shampoo.  That was a little scary.  Then more water.  I wasn’t too excited about my face getting wet.  The dry towels were kinda fun.  I guess all in all it was OK.  I got some treats afterwards and got to go for a walk.  Maybe this bath stuff isn’t as bad as some would have you believe.

New Toys

Well, after the suggestions from Bob the people trainer, Michael and Georgia got me some more toys to play with.  They got a rubber globe that they fill with treats.  They also got me a nylabone that has a softer center section for me to chew on.  My favorite is a giant kong wrapped in canvas that looks like an octopus.  They tie a rope on it and just as I get to it, they pull it away.  I can get lots of running in.  I also got an id disk that they put on my collar.  They said that will help if I get lost.  That’s silly, I always know where I am.

Two of the security guards came by to see me, Linda and Edgar.  Michael and Georgia sure know a lot of people here.  They all talk about Patrick, my predecessor (http://patrick-irish-wolfhound.com).

I was a good boy most of the day.  I really don’t like Michael and Georgia talking on the phone because they aren’t paying enough attention to me.  I can usually get their attention but they aren’t happy about the way I do it (I do what I do best, I chew on them.)

Today, turned out to be a very good day.  Michael and Georgia had Bob Burrud come over to play with me.  He gave them lots of instructions on how to entertain me.  I like that!!  He played with me and brought lots of toys for me to play with.

Another Day

It has been an interesting day.  It rained much of the night.  Heck, I thought they said it never rains in California!   Slept until about 6am and I was ready to go outside.  Guess what I found, wet sand!  I love wet sand, it makes it easy to dig for rocks to chew on.

I got to go for a couple of long walks today.   Took another ride in the car.  Still haven’t figured out how to get in and out of the car without Michael picking me up and putting me in.  Guess I will have to grow some more.  Played outside for awhile but the folks were not amused by my ability to dig big holes quickly in the sand.

Really didn’t want to get in my kennel to go to bed tonight but I did get a treat after I was put in against my wishes.

Exercise

Well, I got my exercise to today.  I learned to climb up on the couch and to get off the coach.  I am very dedicated to doing those things I want to do.  Georgia had a doctor’s appointment so Linda stayed with me while Michael and Georgia were gone.  I kept Linda very busy.

I don’t like closed doors either.  If the bathroom door is closed, I start getting upset.   I am told I’m am so wonderful when I sleep but I wouldn’t know.  I am capable of entertaining myself but Michael and Georgia are not always pleased with the ways I choose to entertain myself.

I’m Growing and I Met Hal

Today was another ordinary day at the Dunes except I met Hal for the first time.  He is a great guy and I am told that he and Patrick were best friends (some of you would say they were BFF’s and you would be right, they were).

I am having lots of fun and driving my folks nuts (isn’t that fun?).  I sleep then I see what I can destroy.  Fortunately, I have lots of boxes they give me to play with.  Those and my knucklebone really help my little teeth.

I know it will surprise you but I am growing.  I am still 20 inches at the shoulders but I now weigh 43 pounds.  Before you know it I will be a big boy.

Arizona and California

Yesterday, we moved to Yuma, AZ.  We spent the night with Michael and Georgia’s long-time friends, Steve and Kate. They have two dogs, Shiloh and Cole.  I like Steve and Kate.  They like to rub me and play with me.  I also discovered it is HOT in Arizona.  Like over 100 degrees.  Can you believe that.  That is hot!  I, of course, being smart, stayed in the air conditioned areas most of the time.  This morning, we played for a while and headed west again.

I entered my fourth state, California.  We went all the way across California (it really isn’t all that wide you know).  We are staying at the Newport Dunes RV Resort in Newport Beach.  I am glad to be parked for a while.  I met several new people today and made friends with Dave and Dottie.  They have been friends with Michael and Georgia for years and years.  They are good people because they play with me and they have doggie treats.

These time changes still have me confused so I am going to bed early.  Of course you know what that means 😉 (I will wake Michael up in the middle of the night to take me out.)
